2nd Issue of FleetSmart News

June 2010

Marea Goodin
             Marea Goodin - BDM Wellington

In this second issue of FleetSmart News, we are bringing impending changes to the automotive industry to the forefront and looking at how they might impact your business.

From July 1, the liquid fossil fuels sector will be entering the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and many companies will need to find ways to off-set their fuel expenditure to accommodate the subsequent rise in fuel prices.

Companies also need to note that vehicle registration costs are also set to rise in line with the ACC levy increase. These changes will no doubt impact on all businesses from a financial position and will also bring back into question the petrol vs. diesel debate.

The recently announced rise in GST won't have come as a shock to those following the political scene. One issue it raises is how to get business processes to adjust in time for October 1. It will also be interesting to see what the true impact of this increase will be to the running of our fleets.

Employing an efficient  fleet management company to conduct an analysis of your  fleet is  a  great  way  to  determine  the  impact  these  increasing  costs  will  have  on  your
business.  This can ensure you have an optimum fleet size which includes best fit-for-purpose vehicles and will help minimise your overall fuel purchase.

If you have any concerns or need help understanding how these changes may affect your overall spend, don't hesitate to give FleetSmart a call today.
